Hocus Pocus Halloween Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
02 - 3/4 cup granulated sugar
03 - 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
04 - 2 large eggs
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
07 - 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
08 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
09 - 1/4 teaspoon salt

→ Decoration & Filling

10 - 450g white frosting (one standard container)
11 - 5 drops neon green gel food coloring
12 - Orange, green, and purple M&M candies

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick silicone baking mat. Separate the green, orange, and purple M&M's into a small bowl.
02 - In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
04 - Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until well incorporated and smooth.
05 - Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined to form a chocolate cookie dough.
06 - Fold half of the M&M candies into the dough, distributing them evenly.
07 - Shape the dough into 2-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each. Press the remaining M&M's onto the top of each dough ball.
08 - Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set but centers remain slightly soft. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
09 - Microwave the white frosting in a microwave-safe bowl for 15 seconds to soften. Stir in the neon green gel food coloring until achieving a vibrant green hue.
10 - Using a flavor injector, pierce the side of each cooled cookie and slowly inject the green frosting until the cookie top slightly cracks, creating a spooky effect.

# Notes:

01 - For a spookier effect, you can add a few drops of black food coloring to the cookie dough for an even darker base.
02 - Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature.
