Combine all ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil, stirring until salt and sugar completely dissolve.

Turn off heat, cover, and allow brine to cool completely to room temperature.

Place uncooked turkey in a brining bag or pot, cover completely with cooled brine solution, and refrigerate for 16-24 hours.

Remove turkey from brine, discard brine, and soak turkey in fresh cold water for 15 minutes to remove excess salt.

Remove from water, pat very dry with paper towels, and cook according to your normal turkey roasting method.
